Holiday prep and packing
We provide plenty of baby and toddler-friendly kit, so please check, it might save you some boot space! You can find the full inventory here.
Check the weather, but wellies are always a good bet for animal feeding or a yomp in the woods. Pack swimming kit for the indoor pool and hot tub garden. And don’t forget your beach kit: it could be rash vests and cossies or anoraks and waterproof trousers, depending on the time of year.

- popular restaurants like Sam’s on the Beach at Polkerris or The Longstore in Charlestown.

Balance bike trails at the Lanhydrock cycle hub or a buggy-friendly trip to Lanhydrock House gardens.

Relax with a Cook! curry and a locally-produced cider or beer from the farm shop. Did anyone say hot tub tag?

Afternoon
Crabbing or shopping and mooching in the picturesque seaside town of Fowey. Take the Bodinnick car ferry to make a circular trip. Visit the quaint local aquarium, which provides an excellent introduction to British sea-life for preschoolers. Enjoy the town beach: Readymoney Cove, and a bun from The Mardy Bakery or monster ice cream at Ruby’s
Just for grown ups
Borrow our Garmin Sat Nav for some excellent cycle routes or enjoy quality trail running around our 80 acres of farm and woodland.
Tuesday
North coast day after animal feeding
Your choices:
- hire bikes at Bridge Bike Hire in Wadebridge (baby seats, trailers and tagalongs available) and cycle along the Camel Trail to Padstow.
- lunch at Cherry Tree Coffee House or Coffee Rojano’s (Paul Ainsworth’s family cafe) in Padstow, or along the harbour with a take-out from Stein’s Fish & Chips
- over threes: Padstow Sealife Safari to see dolphins, puffins and more or kayak closer to home on the Fowey Estuary (Encounter Cornwall)
- under threes: Buggy friendly South West coastal path – Daymer Bay to Polzeath (see. Lunch at the Cracking Crab.
Wednesday
Morning

Afternoon
- Lost Gardens of Heligan – if you are feeling energetic, combination with a trip to Portholland beach or Porthpean
- or the Eden Project and a mooch in Charlestown and the Shipwreck museum
Unless you are feeling totally energetic, we’d recommend you choose one of these iconic sites and come back another time to sample the other. Eat on-site at both venues (child-friendly fare available). Or Charlie’s or Short and Strong offer good cafe fare in Charlestown. Charlie’s is more family friendly but the coffee at Short and Strong is better!
Thursday
Morning
- animal feeding (shhh… with a party bag for mini farmers) animal feeding
- trampoline time
Afternoon
Take a trip to Polkerris beach and a sea view for your last evening meal at Sam’s on the Beach.
Or – if the weather is clement – grab delicious picnic bits from Bellamama (homemade Scotch eggs anyone?) and head to Lansallos for a family picnic.

Time to pack up for home.
