Eating Out

Top spots for great food

With little ones in the day
Many of the local beaches have great beach cafés, perfect for refuelling hungry tummies after a hard morning building sandcastles or rock-pooling. Away from the beach, there are plenty of other child-friendly places to eat. Here are some of our favourite spots.

Sam’s On The Beach, Polkerris
Sit inside or right on the beach and watch your children play in the sand while you wait for your order. Bliss!

Lanhydrock Cycle Trail Café
Great as a cycling stop-off or just for popping into. There’s a play area too that’s perfect for little ones.

Angie’s, St Winnow
Cream teas, bacon baps and ice creams are just some of the treats that Angie, the farmer’s wife serves up from her caravan. Follow the farm trail to get there or make the five-minute car trip.

Pinky Murphy’s, Fowey
Quirky and fun with giant beanbags upstairs for the kids.

Sam’s Bistro, Fowey
Buzzing, casual and very child-friendly.

The Lifebuoy Cafe, Fowey
Voted in the national press as one of the best 25 places in Britain to have breakfast.

The Boathouse, Fowey
More of a restaurant feel but still very relaxed and great for kids. Lots of pizza and pasta as well as delicious seafood.

Rick Stein’s Fish & Chips, Padstow
If it’s upmarket fish and chips you’re after, then this is your place.

Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall, Watergate Bay
Cool and funky with fantastic views of the sea.

The Beach Hut, Watergate Bay
Directly below Fifteen.  A vibrant beach cafe/restaurant.  It has tried, with an element of success, to create a ski resort type vibe.  Only with wet-suit clad surfers wandering in instead!

Just for you
Escape for an evening without the kids. We’ve a list of recommended babysitters, who also babysit our own children, so you can be sure that your little treasures will be in good hands.

Just a mile down the road, you’ve three good places to choose from:

If you’re feeling more decadent, and don’t mind going a little further, you’ve Rick Stein’s two restaurants in Padstow, Paul Ainsworth’s No. 6 and Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall.

Bon Appétit!
